Don Perlimplín is convinced by his maid-servant Malcorfa to marry the young Belisa. After talking to her mother she agrees with great pleasure, but in actual fact she was made to do so because of the interest in Don Perlimpín’s money & land. On the wedding night, Don Perlimplín feels that he is truly beginning to love Belisa. Belisa, on the other hand, feels nothing for Perlimplín and after the wedding, this absence of true love on the part of the girl sets off a series of events that will take Perlimplín to a tragic end.
