Filmoteca Canaria dedicates a cycle to the American novelist & scriptwriter James M. Cain (1892-1977), one of the best authors of crime novels. In spite of his long career as a novelist, Cain is better known for his film adaptations of detective books.

OBSESSION (1943)

Synopsis: Giovanna is a beautiful woman married to Giuseppe, the owner of a restaurant. Her life changes when she meets Gino, a vagrant who breaks up their marriage and becomes her lover. In the whirlwind of their lust, they both agree to kill Giovanna`s husband and so finally find happiness. However, remorse, among other things, gets to determine the future of the couple. The tramp will find himself before the harshness of the law and be condemned for accidental homicide after having been declared innocent for murder.
