Filmoteca Canaria dedicates a cycle to the American novelist & scriptwriter James M. Cain (1892-1977), one of the best authors of crime novels. In spite of his long career as a novelist, Cain is better known for his film adaptations of detective books.

Synopsis: All that Veda (Ann Blyth) desires, her mother Mildred Pierce (Joan Crawford) gives her. Even having to put an end to her middle-class marriage, try to rise in a business world dominated by men and wed a rich man whom she doesn’t love. “I will do anything”, declares Mildred when she explains the love she feels for her daughter.
