Encuentros en la Biblioteca (Gatherings in the Library) are talks that allow for the public to interact and get to know the production & creative processes of artists resident in the Canaries. The event begins with an exhibition relating to the work done by each artist and ends with a dialogue between the public and the speaker.

José Hernández Afonso (Gran Canaria, 1957) is a visual artist and teacher at the ‘Escuela de Arte y Superior de Diseño’ (Higher College of Art & Design’ of Gran Canaria since the year 1986. Over the period of his artistic career he has produced a number of individual exhibitions and participated in many other collective displays. He boasts a extensive production of graphic & editorial design and has implemented a number of thematic series of intaglio engraving.
