The Canarian Institute of Cultural Development, through the Unit of Cultural Heritage & ‘Filmoteca Canaria’, organise a film cycle with the aim of reinforcing the indispensable role of Culture in the application of regulatory policies of Diversity & Equality, strategic linchpins to promote a Culture focused on people and citizenship, and from which to address community cohesion, improvement of coexistence and strengthening civic commitment.

With the cycle ‘Diversidad, Igualdad y Cultura’ (Diversity, Equality & Culture) it is intended to value the plurality and everything that helps us understand the importance of diversity, placing special emphasis on the exposure of all collective groups, particularly the most disadvantaged, promoting a peaceful and enriching coexistence, considering it as part of the common heritage.

“TRANSFORMISTAS” (2019)

Synopsis: It portrays the moving story of the Cuban drags queens and their struggle in the search for art and equal rights. You have to look behind the makeup & under the wigs, to find some queens who have sacrificed everything for the sake of their art, defying the status quo.
