The ‘Entierro de la Sardina’ (Burial of the Sardine) act puts an end to the Carnival festivities, with a final parade featuring widows & mourners dressed in black, weeping & wailing. They, the court & authorities and the Carnival world mourn the death of the fish along the route that takes them to Las Canteras beach, place where it is cremated awaiting the arrival of a new edition of the festivities.
