CYCLE: MÁRTA MÉSZÁROS

In the months of April & May ‘Filmoteca Canaria’ dedicates a cycle to the Hungarian film-maker Márta Mészáros (Budapest, 1931), whose films have recently been restored by the Hungarian National Film Institute so that the current viewer can enjoy in all its splendour the characters that feature in the work of this director who in her day was rated by the prestigious magazine Film Comment as “an arsenal of film resources”.

COMO EN CASA (JUST LIKE HOME)(1978)

Synopsis 

András returns to Hungary from the United States having lived a while there, and finds himself without a wife, work or friends. He’s not even capable of resuming his relationship with his old flame. Completely lost, with mixed feelings between rejection and belonging to his place of origin, he meets a little girl whom he takes on as his adopted daughter. Both uprooted souls get to support each other.

Entrance tickets for ‘Filmoteca Canaria’ are put on sale at the Theatre website and at the Box-Office with discounts for the unemployed & students.
