The only full-length feature film made by Jean Vigo, who died of septicemia a few months after it was finished, is an absolute masterpiece of French cinema.

Synopsis:

Jean is the captain of L’Atalante, a canal barge that is at the same time his home, and in which he travels along the French canals & rivers accompanied by Jules, an old & eccentric sailor. When Jean gets married, happiness comes to the barge. But everything changes when his wife, Juliette escapes from thebarge, attracted by the bright lights of Paris.
