In “El discurso de las moscas”, An elderly couple are alone in a space from which they cannot leave. Destined to be there, they spend their time as well as they can. She tries to read a text she doesn’t see. He tries to smell a chicken that doesn’t exist. She also thinks she smells chicken. He can’t read that text either. And that’s how they spend their time. Chicken, reading, chicken. It’s their agonizing life cycle in which everything is repeated, in which nothing ever happens. Never. But not today. Today it does.
