The story takes place in Paris at the start of the XIX century and revolves around a group of young artists who share a house in the Latin quarter, and with it their friendship, love affairs & expectations.

It centres essentially on the love between the seamstress called Mimi and the poet Rodolfo. They fell in love at first sight, but later Rodolfo wants to leave Mimi for her coquettish behavior. However, Mimi has a fatal illness and Rodolfo feels guilty as their life togetherr had worsened her condition even further. They get together again for a brief moment before she dies.
