´Filmoteca Canaria´ dedicates a cycle to Eloy de la Iglesia (1944 – 2006), the unconventional & provocative director, whose cinema productions, frenzied, combative, militant, were (and still are) the best testimony to the times in which we lived: Spain´s transition.
SYNOPSIS:
Eduardo, a homosexual from a wealthy family, meets Miguel, a lad from a humble family, who is Carmen´s boyfriend and Rosa´s lover, a married woman. Eduardo knows that Miguel would never consent to his intentions and so decides to have him by his side as a friend. He looks after him, gives him presents, but never dares to declare his true feelings towards him. When in the end he does, Miguel despises him and leaves him. With the further implication of Rosa, a scandal ensues.
This was the first Spanish film to deal openly with the topic of homosexuality, thus becoming of international cult interest.
