Talk given by Juan Carlos de Sancho: “Galdós responde desde los siglos XIX/XX a preguntas del S.XXI” (“Galdós responds from the XIXth/XXth century to questions pertaining to the XXIst”)

Maybe there is always a “bad patch” that persists in carrying on, something that causes a fatal break down. Like human experience is not cumulative, everything seems to repeat itself. In ‘La de San Quintín’, one of Galdós’ characters made it very clear: “Yes Sir, I think everything is going very badly in this planet; with so many rules & pretences we have made such a shamble and now nobody understands, and we will have to create a mishmash like this ( kneading energetically), to mix, confuse, superficially annoy, shuffle it around thoroughly to extract new forms”. What does Galdós propose & suggest for our unfortunate XXIst century? What “new ways or forms” does he propose?
