Filmoteca Canaria dedicates a cycle to the American novelist & scriptwriter James M. Cain (1892-1977), one of the best authors of crime novels. In spite of his long career as a novelist, Cain is better known for his film adaptations of detective books.
PERDICIÓN (Double Indemnity) (1944)
Synopsis: In the city of Los Angeles an Insurance Company agent (Fred MacMurray) and a client (Barbara Stanwyck) plot to kill the latter’s husband in order to collect a large sum of money through a false accident claim. James M. Cain wrote the homonymous novel on which the film is based, which was published in instalments in the Liberty Magazine in 1936.
