The conquest of the island of Gran Canaria constitutes one of the most relevant episodes in the History of the Canarian Archipelago, both for inaugurating the period of the conquest of ‘realengo’ (Crown property) promoted by the ‘Reyes Católicos’ (Catholic Kings), and the long duration of the campaign, which lasted for five years (1478-1483), as well as for its subsequent consequences. In this case, the general plot of events has been observed, just as they were collected by the chroniclers.
