Filmoteca Canaria dedicates the months of April & May to a film cycle featuring the US film director John Cassavetes (1929-1989), master of live filming ‘off the grid’, films that said something, and still do, about what “we don’t know” in his own words.

The films that will be shown during this cycle which are in the original version with Spanish subtitles, correspond to his early years of production, from 1959 till 1977, and are considered today as cult films, that attest to a personal process of going against the flow and always committed.

“A WOMAN UNDER THE INFLUENCE” (1974)

Synopsis: Nick (Peter Falk) has to bear with the responsibility of looking after his wife (Gena Rowlands) who suffers from emotional instability. He struggles relentlessly to maintain an environment of normality in spite of her unusual & eccentric behaviour; nevertheless, the moment comes when the situation affects their children, so he has no other option but to take certain steps.
