An aged couple travel to Tokyo to visit their children, but none of them have time to attend to them, so they decide to send them to a hot spring spa. When they return, the mother spends a night in the house of a daughter-in-law, widow of one of her sons. Unlike her brothers-in-law, Noriko shows affection for her parents-in-law and comforts the old woman.
