LA CASA DE EMPEÑOS (THE PAWNSHOP)(2022)

Synopsis 

Jola & Wiesiek are an eccentric business couple from Bytom, Poland. They own, probably, the biggest pawnshop in Europe. Nevertheless, their moment of glory has gone with the closure of the mines and the growth of unemployment in the city. Neither does Wiesiek’s crazy marketing ideas nor Jola’s tender heart help in the decadent economy. Although the pawnshop suffers losses, and it has become an important living centre for the local community. Business will soon find itself on the threshold of insolvency and Jola and Wiesiek’s relationship will be put to the test. A story that shows how in the face of impending disaster, creativity and strength have no limits.

Entrance tickets for ‘Filmoteca Canaria’ are put on sale at the Theatre website and at the Box-Office with discounts for the unemployed & students.
