  the great tools of the Cabildo (Island Council) of Gran Canaria in matters
  of culture: the ‘Ediciones del Cabildo’ (Cabildo Editions. Sin
 ce its first publication in book format in 1923, the Cabildo initiates an e
 ditorial activity that will fill in the gaps in terms of the recovery and d
 issemination of the literary heritage of the island. Thanks to archivists a
 nd university professors, this cultural undertaking will jell in the middle
  of the 20th century, when the Atlantic Library, the first literature and r
 esearch awards begins: Tomás Morales, Pérez Galdós, &a
 mp; Viera y Clavijo, and the first periodical: ‘ ‘Anuario
