The story of three women from different time periods who are trying to find a meaning to life. At the start of the ´20s in London, Virginia Wolf is struggling against her insanity while writing "Mrs. Dalloway". In the ´50s in Los Angeles, Laura Brown, married with two children, finds reading the book "Mrs. Dalloway" so revealing that she begins to consider the possibility of radically changing her life. In New York, Clarissa Vaughan, a present-day version of "Mrs. Dalloway", is in love with her friend Richard, a brilliant poet who is ill with AIDS.
