The Elias String Quartet takes its name from the oratorio by Mendelssohn, and it has established itself rapidly as one of the most intense & vibrant ensembles of its generation. It was formed in the year 1988 at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, working closely with Dr. Christopher Rowland and after that at the ´Hochschule´ (higher school) in Cologne (Germany) with the Alban Berg quartet.
