From Thursday 12 till Monday 23 December, the renovated ´rambla´ (boulevard) of Mesa y López will be the venue for nine performances suitable for the whole family; these being included in the Christmas programme pertaining to the Town Hall of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
On Thursday 12, at 20:30 hours, the group Los Salvapantallas will guarantee a superb start to the programme with their renditions of great numbers of pop & rock music.
On Friday 13, and on this occasion at 18:00 hours, Mesa y López will be the setting for the attractive combination of swing & jazz manouche by the trio Plátano Swing.
The popular characters from the series La patrulla canina will animate the public on Saturday 14, at 18:00 hours.
On Monday 16, Tuesday 17 & Wednesday 18, from 18:00 hours, los villancicos (Christmas Carols) will be the star feature performed by choral groups. The youth chorus Ulrika, from the Jaime Balmes College and the Coral Arenales, from the distrito Centro (central district), will add colour to the scene on the first evening of the concerts. On Tuesday there will be performances by the choral groups CEIP Alcaravaneras, the CEIP Mesa y López and from the college - colegio Anita Conrad. Finally, on Wednesday, to close the performances by school choral ensembles, will be the choir from the college - colegio Heidelberg and the chorus from the Institutos Diocesanos (Diocesan Institutes).
On Thursday 19 the family programme scenario returns with the session Juega, canta y baila (Play, sing & dance), which will start at 18:00 hours.
On Friday 20, at 18:00 hours, there will be a performance by an instrumental group called the Gran Canaria Women's Band, the first and only symphonic women´s band in the Canary islands and the second in Spain.
Saturday 21 will be the day for the whole family to enjoy the magnificent renditions of the famous group from Liverpool, played by the Canarian group Los Little. A fantastic tribute to the most admired & imitated pop band in history.
One of the most popular children´s theatrical companies in Gran Canaria, Espíritus de Sal, will take charge of closing the Christmas programme in Mesa y López. On Monday 23, at 18:00 hours, they will take the ´stage´ to present their version of “Cuentos de Navidad” (A Christmas Carol), the story that will carry both big & small ones into the spirit of this festive time of year.
